Animal Services

The Tonganoxie Police Department oversees a City employed Animal Services Officer.  The Animal Services Officer is responsible for enforcing animal related city ordinances to include leash laws, vaccinations, licensing requirements, animal bites, and neglected or abused animals.

Animal Control Officers can issue citations for violations in these cases. They also pick up loose or injured animals with no identifiable owner.  Unfortunately, animal complaints are a frequent call for service, and usually relate to pets running loose or creating excessive noise.  Our Department takes no pleasure in issuing citations, but animal violations rarely result in a warning.  So please, take care of your animals and review ordinances relating to Animal Control and Regulation.
